Intimate partner violence, which, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, accounts for 15% of all violent crime, is a plague in society. The statistics are staggering.
One out of three women and one in four men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. One in seven women and one in 25 men have been injured by an intimate partner.
Lastly, the presence of a gun in a domestic violence situation increases the risk of homicide by 500%.
